The project consists of sidewalk repair, curb ramp construction, pavement rehabilitation and installation of traffic signing, pavement markings and signs to enhance crosswalks and bike lanes. The project is located on Central Avenue from Santa Clara Avenue to Carlson Boulevard and Carlson Boulevard from Central Avenue to the northern city limits. Central Avenue and Carlson Boulevard within the project limits are classified as arterial streets providing direct access to I-80, I-580, El Cerrito Plaza BART Station and regional shopping centers. The project will extend the useful life of the road segment and enhance traffic safety.

The sidewalk repair and curb ramp construction is taking place as part of the 2018 Curb Ramp and Sidewalk Repair Project. The other project components are expected to be constructed in Summer 2020.
