The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from midnight tonight (10/13) to noon PDT Monday (10/15). The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. The winds are predicted to be Northeast 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph, local gusts up to 60 mph at the higher elevations. Minimum daytime humidity values will be as low as 5 to 10 percent, with overnight humidity recoveries as low as 30 percent. The greatest threats will be at elevations near or above 1,000 feet in the hills. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
