Help El Cerrito Respond to Climate Change
Over the next year, the City of El Cerrito will be holding a series of meetings and workshops to get input on what the City can do to respond to the challenge of global warming. We’ll be bringing some of those meetings to El Cerrito’s business and civic groups, as well as holding community-wide workshops. In these meetings, we’ll want to hear more about how important such issues as environmental quality, global warming, energy efficiency and energy security, and greater access to transportation options are to you. We’ll want to hear your vision for the City’s role in responding to climate change and figure out the best policies and programs that can make that vision happen.
The City’s Environmental Services Division will be using this input to develop a Climate Action and Resiliency Plan. This plan will:
Summarize the risks El Cerrito faces from the effects of global warming,
Investigate ways to minimize those risks,
Set a goal for reducing the pollution that causes global warming,
Analyze options to meet that emissions reduction goal, and
Develop a roadmap to using those options to create a safer and more sustainable El Cerrito
