City Council Resolutions and Climate Action

Since 2006, the El Cerrito City Council has consistently supported local, regional and state initiatives to cut the pollution that causes global warming and climate change. The following Council resolutions provide the framework for developing and implementing the City's Climate Action Plan (CAP):

  • Resolution 2006-93 endorses the reduction targets of the California Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32).
  • Resolution 2008-33 accepts the City's 2005 baseline GHG emissions inventory and directs the City to develop a Climate Action Plan.
  • Resolution 2011-12 adopts GHG emissions reduction targets of 15% below 2005 levels by 2020 and 30% below 2005 levels by 2035.
  • Resolution 2011-26 approves the City's participation in the Institute for Local Government's (ILG) Beacon Award Program for "Local Leadership toward Solvings Climate Change."
