Electronic Waste Recycling
Saturday, February 13, 2016 | 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Anyone can drop-off all types of electronics at this free event. TVs, computers, printers, phone equipment, small household appliances, and more are accepted. Follow signs at entrance to the back of the Recycling Center, 7501 Schmidt Lane, to have your vehicle unloaded. Green Team Clean-up

Compost Giveaway
March 26 - April 3, 2016 | 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Free compost made from your yard waste and food scraps. El Cerrito residents & businesses only. Bring proof of residency and containers. Limit of 5 cubic feet per household. Hillside Festival

Join the third annual Hillside Festival for a day of activities, including nature and history hikes, a pop-up bike park, activities for kids, music and more. El Cerrito Trail Trekkers and the Environmental Quality Committee host the day-long festival at El Cerrito’s Hillside Natural Area. Sand and Sand Bags Now Available at  New Location Inside the El Cerrito Recycling Center 
The sand pile and bags are available for El Cerrito and Kensington residents only. Empty bags can be picked up from the Recycling Center Office at 7501 Schmidt Lane, Monday through Sunday, 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Please bring proof of residency.
The sand enclosure is now in a new location inside the El Cerrito Recycling & Environmental Resource Center. You will need to fill the bags yourself, but shovels will be provided. Sand is available on a first-come first-served basis.
In the event of an upcoming storm, the City will also have sand available for residents on Schmidt Lane for after hours use. Questions?? 510-215-4350

Recycling Center's Drop-off  Winter Hours start November 1, 2015
Winter Hours:  Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM | Saturday & Sunday 9:00 AM - 4:45 PM 
Starting November 1, 2015, ending February 1, 2016, the Recycling Center will begin closing at 4:45 PM during the week.  The winter hours do not affect weekend drop-off hours.  The Administrative Business office remain the same: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM seven days a week.

El Cerrito Environmental Quality Committee (EQC)
Meets every 2nd Tuesday | 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
El Cerrito City Hall Council Chambers, 10890  San Pablo Avenue
The EQC is a Council-appointed body of residents and business representatives who work to involve the community directly in understanding and reducing our impact on the environment. Regular meetings of the EQC often host informative presentations on environmental issues and policies. Vegetable Gardening in El Cerrito

4th Saturdays, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
The El Cerrito Community Garden Network and El Cerrito Library are teaming up to provide a series of monthly introductory vegetable gardening workshops running April through November, no workshop in August.  The workshop format will be a 30-minute presentation at the Library and then a hands-on project (30-60 minutes) at the nearby Community Demonstration Garden in Fairmont Park.
