The public is invited to participate in a workshop sponsored by the El Cerrito Arts and Culture Commission on the San Pablo Avenue Public Art Project on Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 10890 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito.
At the workshop, the selected artists Jonathan Russell and Saori Ide will introduce their vision for the Project: artwork "icons" that will be installed on streetlight poles along the length of San Pablo Avenue. The public is requested to bring their ideas for these icons, as the artists will hear from community members as a part of "telling El Cerrito’s story". After ideas are generated through this workshop, the artists will design the icons based on the public's input.
