Police to Conduct Child Safety Seat Inspection May 14
A Free Service Offered by El Cerrito Police Department
The El Cerrito Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit and the El Cerrito Fire Department will be participating in a child safety seat check up on Wednesday May 14th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Come to the Target Store Parking Lot on May 14
The child safety seat check up will be held in the Target Stores Inc. parking lot at 11450 San Pablo Ave. The El Cerrito Police and Fire Departments are member agencies of the Contra Costa Car Seat Safety Coalition which includes law enforcement, fire department and civilian child safety seat technicians.
Officer John Molica, a 23 year veteran, is a certified child safety seat technician. As part of Officer Molica's traffic officer responsibilities, he conducts free child seat inspections during his work day. To date, Officer Molica has completed over 30 child seat inspections.
May is Click It or Ticket Month
Fire Engineers Kathy Halligan and Terry Pace will also be at the check-up along with approximately twenty other technicians conducting inspections of each child safety seat to include the proper seat position, recall orders and proper seatbelt use for children under the age of 6. The month of May kicks off the "Click It or Ticket" campaign which focuses on seatbelt violations, including children and child safety seats. The car seat check up is free.
