Report no.05-11065

On June 30th, 2005 at 1530 hours officers responded to the 600 block of Lexington Ave on report of two juveniles in a neighbor’s car trying to start it. Officers detained the two a short distance away and learned that the two had attempted to steal the Acura Integra using shaved keys and also tried to steal the stereo from the car. The two Hispanic juveniles, aged 16 and 17 were both Richmond residents. They were booked and released to the custody of their parents.

On June 29th, 2005 at 1400 hours officers responded to the Albertson’s located at 1000 El Cerrito Plaza on report of a shoplifter in custody. Upon their arrival they found Donyale Turner being detained by store personnel for petty theft. Turner had concealed approximately $128 worth of store merchandise and left without paying. Upon review of Turner’s criminal history it was determined that she had several previous convictions for petty theft and a current warrant for her arrest for theft out of Stockton. Turner was booked on charges of theft with priors and sent ot the county jail.

On June 28th, 2005 officers contacted Jodie Daniels a 24 year old Homeless man for public intoxication in the Target parking lot located at 11450 San Pablo Ave. Daniels, a previous El Cerrito resident is currently on probation for two incidents of a felon possessing a hand gun and one count of threatening officers. Daniels made several credible threats against two officers involved in this arrest. Daniels was transported to the county jail on charges of threatening the two officers. He is currently being held at the county jail on a no bail hold pending a hearing to revoke both of his probations.

Report no.05-10925/10940

On the evening of Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 there were two robberies performed by three suspects in El Cerrito. The first robbery occurred at 1825 hours on the BART Path at Lincoln Ave. The suspects approached an Asian male victim. While one of the suspects held a knife to the victim, the other two removed his back pack and other property from his pockets. They then fled on foot towards San Pablo Ave.

At 2131 hours the three suspects approached a Hispanic male victim in the 1600 block of Lexington Ave. The suspect with the knife held it to the victim’s throat while the other two stood by. The suspects took the man’s wallet and cell phone and fled to a Black Chevrolet Monte Carlo parked nearby. Witnesses reported the license plate to the police.

On Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 detectives contacted the owner of the vehicle and learned who had been driving the car the previous night. The detectives contacted Derek James Freeney, a 22 year old Oakland man and arrested him for his participation in the robberies. He was transported to the county jail.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Terrell Lamar Huntington, a Black Male, 4/2/1984 of 3501 San Pablo Ave in Oakland for robbery. He was last seen at his residence on July 1st at 1330 hours. Anyone having information on his whereabouts should contact the El Cerrito Police at 510-215-4418. Update:

On July 29th, 2005 the Oakland Police arrested Terrell Huntington for our outstanding arrest warrant. He was interviewed on August 2nd by El Cerrito Police. Charges will be filed through the District Attorney’s office.

On Monday, June 27th, 2005 at 2030 hours officers were dispatched to the Copeland’s Sports Store in the El Cerrito Plaza on report of a theft of a bicycle that had jus occurred. Upon the arrival of the officers it was determined that a bicycle had been stolen by a store employee. The employee had taken a bicycle and placed it in his car. Jack Whalen, a 21 year old Richmond resident was arrested and booked for embezzlement/grand theft. He was transported to the county jail.

On June 27th, 2005 at 1950 hours an officer already at the Target Store at 11450 San Pablo Ave taking a report of a juvenile shoplifter in custody was advised that a person was in the electronics department passing a counterfeit traveler’s check. The officer confirmed that the $500 traveler’s check was counterfeit and contacted the man and arrested him without incident. Gerald Craig, a 52 year old Oakland resident was transported to the county jail on charges of Forgery. He was also found to be on felony probation out of Alameda County.

On Sunday June 26th, 2005 at 0835 hours an officer conducted an enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation at Waldo Ave. and Liberty St. The driver, Michelle Rivera, a 38 year old Richmond resident was found to be driving on a suspended license and in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. Rivera was booked and released on a citation. Charges will be sought through the District Attorney’s office.

On June 25th, 2005 at 0230 hours officers responded to the 900 block of Avis Drive on report of someone in possession of stolen property. Officers were led to Damon LeBlanc 19 year old El Cerrito resident who was found to be in possession of several items that had been stolen from a neighbor’s house on June 15th, 2005. Several items from the burglary were recovered. LeBlanc was transported to county jail.

On June 22nd, 2005 at 1710 hours officers responded to the Target store located at 11450 San Pablo Ave. on report of a shoplifter in custody. Charlie Mae Rollins, a 50 year old Richmond resident, was booked on charges of theft with priors when it was learned she had numerous previous convictions for theft. She was transported to the county jail.

Report no.05-10455

On June 21, 2005 Officer Bell conducted a traffic enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation in the area of Central Ave. @ San Luis Ave. During the investigation Officer Bell determined that the subject he stopped had provided him with a false name. Officer Bell arrested Darryl Davis (43) of Richmond for providing false information and being under the influence of a controlled substance. During the arrest Davis was found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was booked for the violations and released pending charges by the District Attorneys Office.

On June 21st, 2005 at 0042 hours, an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a bicyclist at San Luis St. and Central Ave. During the stop the rider was found to be in possession of a glass pipe with methamphetamine in it and syringes. The rider also had an arrest warrant out of Albany. The rider was identified as Darryl Davis, a 42 year old Berkeley resident. He was booked and cited out on the drug charges and released to the custody of the Albany Police for their warrant.

Report no.05-10423

On Monday, June 20th, 2005 at 1000 hours a suspect was seen by demolition workers at the El Cerrito High School loading two barbeques and a teak patio table and chairs into a truck. On Tuesday the 21st, the high school received a phone call from the suspect saying that he had not slept all night because he had stolen the furniture and wanted to return it. A stakeout of the location was put in place, but the suspect did not return the items. On Wednesday, June 22nd detectives located the suspect, John Albert Rios, a 46 year old San Pablo resident and arrested him. Detectives recovered the two barbeques at that time. Rios then led the detectives to a Richmond residence where he had sold the teak furniture. The Richmond resident was very cooperative and turned over the furniture. All of the stolen items have been recovered and returned to the high school. Rios was booked for grand theft and released on a citation.

On June 19th, 2005 at 0910 hours an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for running a stop sign at Manila Ave and Navellier St. The driver of the car was a 14 year old Richmond resident and unlicensed. He was also listed as a missing person. A check on the car he was driving showed that it had been reported stolen the day before to the CHP. He was booked for car theft and released to his parent. The case will be forwarded to the juvenile probation department for disposition.

On June 18th, 2005 at 1645 hours officers responded to the Target store located at 11450 San Pablo Ave on report of a shoplifter in custody. Nathaniel Carter, a 38 year old Novato resident was arrested for theft with priors. He had placed items down his pants before walking out of the store without paying for the items. As Carter has previous convictions for theft, this theft of items is considered a felony. Carter was transported to the county jail.

Report no.05-10322

On June 18, 2005 Officer Purdy conducted and traffic enforcement stop for a municipal code violation in the area of Knott Ave. @ the BART path. During the contact the operator of the vehicle provided the officer with a false name. Further investigation determined the subject’s true identity and resulted in the discovery of an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Officer Purdy arrested Mark Anthony Jelinek (38) of Richmond and found that he was also in possession of Crack Cocaine and a Crack Pipe. Jelinek was arrested and booked for felony possession of Cocaine and related charges.

On June 16th, 2005 at 1800 hours officers were notified by employees of Long’s Drugs store located at 10650 San Pablo Ave. that they had a shoplifter in custody. Benjamin Redd, a 46 year old San Pablo resident was detained at the store. He was found to have concealed property from the Long’s store and nearby Marshall’s on his person. He provided a false name to officers. He was arrested and booked on charges of burglary, and theft with priors. He was transported to the county jail.

Report no.05-10213

On June 16, 2005 El Cerrito Detectives were in the 2400 block of Esmond St. in the City of Richmond attempting to locate and arrest a subject wanted in connection with a residential burglary in El Cerrito. While checking the area for the subject, Detectives located a 2004 Acura parked in the area that had been reported stolen to the Merced Police Department on the 8th of June. Detectives arrested Douglas Fuller (24) of San Pablo after it was determined that he was the subject who drove the vehicle to the residence. Fuller was booked into the county jail for motor vehicle theft.

Report no.05-10189

On June 16, 2005 Detectives conducting a robbery investigation served a search warrant in the 4500 block of Bell Court. During the search of the residence officers located and recovered a motorcycle that had been reported stolen several years prior. Officer also recovered a shotgun that had been reported stolen in a residential burglary in Oakland. Eugene Teasley (59) of Richmond was arrested for possession of stolen property and booked into the county jail in Martinez.

On June 14th, 2005 at 1630 hours officers responded the Mechanics bank located at 9996 San Pablo Ave. on report of a forgery that had just occurred. As the first officer arrived he saw the suspect walking across the street from the bank and detained her. After a bank employee identified her as the suspect she was arrested for passing a counterfeit check. Tannerra Gray, a 33 year old Oakland resident was booked for forgery and transported to the county jail.

Report no.05-10065

On June 14th, 2005 at 0930 hours an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Hagen Blvd and Knott Ave. During the stop the officer conducted a search of the vehicle and located suspected crack cocaine and ammunition. The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The three arrested were: Lenora Robertson, a 42 year old Rodeo resident, Damien Livingston, and a 40 year old Richmond resident and Jack Jefferson, a 36 year old El Cerrito resident. Jefferson was also charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition.

The three were booked and transported to the county jail.

Report no.05-10047

On June 13th, 2005 at 1620 hours officers responded to the Bank of America located at 10422 San Pablo Ave on report that a forgery had occurred earlier in the day. Albany PD detectives notified the bank of the forgery after they arrested someone for a forgery at their branch of the bank and discovered the transaction. The listed suspect in the El Cerrito case was not in custody in Albany but was to bring medication to the Albany PD for their in custody person. Mary Castle, a 21 year old Richmond resident was detained at the Albany Police Department. A witness from the El Cerrito Branch identified her as the person having passed the counterfeit check in El Cerrito. She was arrested and transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. She was released pending further investigation. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution.

On June 12th, 2005 at 2245 hours officers responded to the 700 block of Gelston Place on report of a disturbance. After an investigation of the incident, Kevin Moore, a 38 year old El Cerrito resident was arrested for assault.

Moore was booked and transported to the county jail.

On June 11, 2005 Officers responded to the area of Ashbury Ave @ Eureka Ave. on the report of an armed robbery. Responding officers located and interviewed three victims that had been robbed at gun point. Information obtained during the investigation resulted in the arrest of Eugene Teasley (20) of Richmond, Mario Hollister (20) of Richmond and a juvenile suspect also from Richmond. Both adult suspects were booked and transported to the county jail in Martinez charged with robbery.

Report no.05-09690/ 05-9691

On June 7th 2005 at 1852 hours two masked and armed suspects robbed the Hill Market gas station in Albany. After completing the robbery in Albany they drove to the El Cerrito Burger King located at Central Ave and San Pablo Ave. There they conducted a take over style robbery, ordering the customers to the ground and forcing the employees to a back room at gun point. The robbers left the Burger King and went next door to the 76 Station located at Central Ave and Carlson Blvd and robbed the attendant at gun point also forcing a customer to the ground. They fled in a stolen white Ford Mustang to the 76 Station located at Imperial Ave and Carlson Blvd in Richmond. At 2002 hours they were in the process of putting their masks in an apparent attempt to rob that gas station when they were spotted by Sgt. Statton of the El Cerrito Police Department. The two suspects fled into the nearby neighborhood over fences. A perimeter was set up by members of the El Cerrito, Albany and Richmond Police Departments. Joseph Mahan, a 20 year old El Sobrante resident was arrested when he gave up after he realized he was surrounded. Mahan is currently on parole for out of the California Youth Authority for a pervious robbery with a firearm. The second suspect eluded capture and is described as a black male 20-22 years old, 5’11”, 150-160 pounds, wearing a black sweater with a hood, black baggie pants and a black bandana.

The car had been stolen from a Hertz dealership in Modesto on May 29th, 2005. All of the stolen cash has been recovered.

Mahan was transported the county jail where he is being held on robbery and parole violation charges. Charges will be sought through the District Attorney’s office.

On June 7th, 2005 at 0315 hours an officer contacted Eli Jones Jr., a 54 year old El Cerrito resident for a pedestrian traffic violation at Knott Ave and San Pablo Ave. It was determined that Jones had a no bail felony burglary warrant for his arrest. He was also found to be in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine and to be under the influence of cocaine. Jones was booked and transported to the county jail.

On June 6th, 2005 at 1415 hours officers responded to the El Cerrito High School on report of a robbery that had occurred earlier in the day. The victim student identified another 15 year old student from Richmond that had with the help of another student taken his wallet from his pocket by means of threats removed the money in the wallet and then given the wallet back to the victim.

On June 7th, officers arrested the named suspect and booked him for the robbery. Later in the day, detectives located the second student, a 16 year old Richmond resident at school and took him into custody. The two suspects were booked on charges of robbery and released to their parents custody.

On June 22nd, 2005 at 1100 hours, detectives of the EL Cerrito Police Department served an arrest warrant at 814 3rd St. in Rodeo on Charlene Mondy, a 38 year old resident of the address. Mondy was booked on charges of forgery, passing counterfeit checks and burglary. These charges were from a March 30th incident in which she passed a counterfeit check at the California Check Cashing store located at 10394 San Pablo Ave. She was transported to county jail.

On June 2nd, 2005 at 0900 hours detectives of the El Cerrito Police Department served an arrest warrant at 5300 Sacramento Street in Richmond. Dale Franklyn Nelson, a 48 year old male was arrested in his residence for Possession for Sales of Heroin based on a previous search of the residence. Nelson was transported to the county jail.

On June 2nd, 2005 the detective unit of the El Cerrito Police Department arrested Robert Mike Venturi, a 45 year old male at his residence on Solano Ave. in Richmond. Venturi had an arrest warrant for possession of stolen property stemming from an earlier probation search of his residence in April. Venturi was transported to the county jail.

Report no. 05-06515

On June 29th, 2005 detectives armed with an arrest warrant arrested Chinda Keosaeng, an 18 year old Richmond resident at her Monterey Pines apartment located in the 700 block of Carlson Blvd. Keosang had passed a counterfeit check at the El Cerrito branch of the Wells Fargo Bank on April 18th, 2005. She had fled the bank leaving the check and her ID behind. She later gave a statement to the investigating officer that she worked for the business and could prove it with pay stubs. When asked to produce the stubs she could not locate the stubs and declined to turn herself in. She had been reported as a missing person to the Richmond Police on June 19th by a family member. El Cerrito Detectives located her at her home after finding the car she had been reported missing in parked nearby. She was booked and transported to the county jail on charges of burglary and forgery.

Report no. 05-05468

On June 1st, 2005 the suspect in an ongoing investigation of a forgery turned herself in to the El Cerrito Police department after detectives had attempted to arrest her at her residence earlier in the day. Shelita Knox, a 22 year old Berkeley resident was wanted I connection with the passing of a counterfeit check at the El Cerrito branch of the Bank of America on April 1st, 2005. She had fled the bank without obtaining any money.

Knox was transported to the county jail. On June 3rd she appeared in court and was sentenced to 10 days jail, and two years of probation.
