On February 28, 2007, at about 1752 hours officers responded to the Albertson’s store located at 1000 El Cerrito Plaza regarding a theft investigation. The officers conducted an investigation and arrested 27 year old El Cerrito resident Ryan Antonacci for robbery. Antonacci was booked for robbery and then released pending further investigation. The case was submitted to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s office for review.

On Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 at 0130 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on a suspicious person at Manila Ave and Elm St. Nai Saephan, a 30 year old Richmond resident had was found to have a large butcher knife inside his waistband. He stated he was carrying the knife for his protection as he collected the cans from the recycle bins at the side of the road. He was booked on a charge of possession of a deadly weapon. He was released from custody pending review of the case by the District Attorney’s office.

On Sunday, February 25th, 2007 at 2025 hours an officer made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle at the intersection of San Pablo Ave and Carlson Blvd. During the stop the officer located a loaded firearm under the driver’s seat that had the serial number removed from the gun. Daniel Thompson, a 22 year old Oakland male was arrested and transported to the county jail.

On Saturday, February 24th, 2007 at 2120 hours officers responded to the apartment complex at 6500 Donal Ave on report of a disturbance. The officers conducted an investigation and subsequently arrested Matthew Wathen, a 24 year old El Cerrito resident for a battery. He was transported to the county jail.

On February 23, 2007, at about 2231 hours an El Cerrito Patrol Officer stopped a vehicle in the area of 1-80 and Cutting Boulevard regarding a California Vehicle Code violation. During the stop, the officer determined that two of the vehicle’s occupants were in possession of narcotics.
The officer arrested 50 year old Richmond resident Robert Nisby for possession of cocaine. The officer also arrested 48 year old San Francisco resident Linda Winkfield for possession of heroin, possession of syringes and possession of a crack pipe. Both suspects were booked and then released pending lad testing on the narcotics. The case will be sent to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s office for review.

On Friday, February 23rd, 2007 at 0035 hours officers responded to the Safeway Store located at 10636 San Pablo Ave on report of a possible theft that had just occurred. Officers located Vance Redditt, a 45 year old Richmond resident on the BART path, one block away. He was found to have stolen $84 worth of items. He also had a felony warrant for his arrest, issued in Missouri for drug possession. He was booked on burglary charges and the warrant and transported to the County Jail.

On Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 at 1527 hours officers responded to the Bank of America on report of a forgery in progress. Officers arrested Ruby Crowley, a 35 year old San Pablo resident in the bank attempting to cash a stolen check. Shakelia Chatman was located in the parking lot waiting for Crowley and found to have stolen checks and credit cards in her possession as well. Both were transported to the county jail on burglary, forgery and possession of stolen property charges.

On Sunday, February 18th, 2007 at 0915 hours an officer contacted Charles Meyer, a 38 year old El Sobrante resident at Eastshore Blvd and Potrero Ave. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest for traffic violations. During booking he was also found to have a small amount of Methamphetamine on his person. He was released on a citation for the warrant. Charges will be sought for drug possession upon completion of lab tests on the drugs.

On Friday, February 16th, 2007 at 2225 hours officers responded to the area of Cutting Blvd and San Pablo Ave on report of a robbery that had just occurred. A group of six black females had followed two 17-year-old Hispanic females from the Del Norte BART station; having interacted with them on the train. One of the group of six had grabbed her purse and bag of clothing she had purchased in San Francisco. The victim struggled for her purse but when she realized that there was a larger group together she gave up her bag and purse. The group fled West into Richmond on Cutting Blvd. An officer located the group and was able to detain them at South 30th St and Cutting Blvd. The victim and witnesses identified the group and officers located property from the victim distributed among the group.
Four 17 year old girls from Richmond Berkeley and Oakland were detained until the conclusion of the investigation and were released to their parents. Laria Curry, an 18-year-old Oakland resident was booked on a charge of robbery and transported to the county jail. Jenipher Washington, an 18-year-old Richmond resident was released at the end of the investigation.

On Friday, February 16th, 2007 Detectives were notified that the Alameda Police had arrested Joel Walter, a 33 year old homeless male on the El Cerrito Police Department’s warrant for residential burglary. Walter had been identified by fingerprints as the responsible person in a January 10th, 2007 residential burglary in the 1000 block of Villa Nueva Drive in El Cerrito. Walter was found to be in possession of many items of property from the burglary as well. He was being held in Alameda on local charges. Walter will face residential burglary charges in Contra Costa County when he has completed his Alameda County proceedings.

On Sunday, 2-18-07 at 1530 hours officers conducted a probation search at the Budget Inn located at 10621 San Pablo Ave on the resident Sandra Coe. Coe is a 40 year old El Cerrito resident. She was found to have stolen property worth over $1200 from a fellow resident just prior to the officers’ arrival. She was also found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. Coe was transported to the county jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and grand theft.

On Thursday, February 15th, 2007 at 1600 hours officers responded to the Albertson’s store located at 1000 El Cerrito Plaza on report of a shoplifter in custody. Leonard Santos, a 35 year old Pittsburg resident had selected $100 worth of items and left the store without paying. When a loss prevention employee contacted him Santos struck the employee and tried to flee. He was subdued by the loss prevention personnel and the police were summoned. Santos was booked on a charge of robbery and for an outstanding car theft warrant. He was transported to the county jail.

On Wednesday, February 14th, 2007 at 1130 hours detectives of the El Cerrito Police Department located Teresa Knight, a 23 year old Richmond resident while she was driving in the 1300 block of Santa Clara Ave in Richmond. She was being sought for her participation in a residential burglary that had taken place in the 2600 block of Edwards Ave. on December 6th, 2006. She had broken into the home and stolen the vehicle from the home as well as other items. She was transported to the county jail.
During a related search at a home in Richmond Joel Zupan a parolee at large was also taken into custody. He was also transported to the county jail.

On Wednesday, February 14th, 2007 at 0010 hours an officer contacted a vehicle parked on Lexington Ave at Moeser Ln and found that the occupants were smoking marijuana. During the contact Lavertis Johnson, a 21 year old Oakland resident was found to be in possession of 22 baggies of marijuana and several hundred dollars. He was booked on possession of marijuana for sales and released pending lab test on the marijuana.

On February 12, 2007, at about 1345 hours officers responded to a residential burglary call in the 1300 block of Devonshire Drive. The officers determined that the suspects had fled prior to their arrival. The officers conducted an investigation which provided leads to the suspects.
On February 28, 2007, El Cerrito Police Detectives and Patrol Officers served related arrest and search warrants in the Pinole/Hercules area. This led to the arrest of 19 year old Hercules resident Nestor Melina and 19 year old Richmond resident Ricardo Mariscal. The case was submitted to the Contra Costa County D.A.’s office and they filed two felony counts against Nestor Melina.

On Sunday, February 11th, 2007 at 1440 hours an officer made pedestrian stop on Douglas Penn, a 44 year old at San Joaquin Street and Fresno Ave. Penn tried to dispose of a loaded hypodermic needle as the officer approached him. Penn was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and released on a citation, pending lab tests on the contents of the syringe.

On Saturday,February 10th, 2007 at 0345 hours an officer contacted Jacqueline Medoza, a 25 year old Richmond resident at San Pablo Ave and Cypress Ave. During the contact she was found to have two concealed large daggers in a homemade sheath under her clothing. She was also found to have an arrest warrant for forgery and possession of stolen property. She was booked on charges of possession of a deadly weapon and the warrant and transported to the county jail.

On Thursday, February 8th, 2007, at 1350 hours officers responded to the Albertson’s store at 1000 El Cerrito Plaza on report of a woman screaming. Christina Serafino, a 18 year old homeless woman had selected various items and tried to leave the store without paying. When she was confronted by the security guard, she pushed her into a display and tried to flee. Serafino was booked on a charge of strong arm robbery and transported to the county jail.

On Wednesday, February 7th, 2007 at 2120 hours an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a bicyclist in the area of Knott Ave and San Pablo Ave. During the stop, Timothy Robinson, a 32 year old Richmond resident was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Solano County and to be in possession of a pipe for smoking methamphetamine and a small amount of methamphetamine. He was booked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and released on a citation.

On Wednesday, February 7th, 2007 at 1410 hours an officer observed Sandra Coe, a 40 year old El Cerrito resident exiting a yard in the 2000 block of Junction Ave. Due to prior contacts with her the officer knew that she did not live at the residence. He contacted her and during the contact found her to be in possession of a small amount of a methamphetamine. She was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance. She was released pending lab tests on the substance.

On Tuesday, February 6th, 2007 at 1630 hours officers responded to the Safeway store located at 10636 San Pablo Ave. on report of a shoplifter in custody. John Clahan, a 40 year old Greenbrae resident had taken several packages of meat totaling over $110 and hid them down his pants before leaving the store. During booking it was learned that he had several prior convictions for theft. He was booked for theft with priors and transported to the county jail.

On Tuesday, February 6th, 2007 at 1545 hours an officer was in front of El Cerrito Police Department taking a report from a citizen when he heard screaming and yelling from the area of the bus stop at San Pablo Ave and Manila Ave. He saw a large group of juveniles surrounding several other juveniles. The victim had her cell phone taken by another juvenile and then was challenged to fight to get it back. Two 12 year old female juveniles and two male juveniles, aged 12 and 16 were arrested for their part in the robbery. The juveniles were released to guardians.

On Monday, February 5th, 2007 at 1900 hours an officer made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle at 11775 San Pablo Ave (Pizza Hut). The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, Sean Galvan, a 23 year old Truckee resident stated that he did have marijuana in the car. The officer located the marijuana, over a quarter pound in weight along with over $4000 in cash. Gavan was placed under arrest for possession for sales of marijuana.
The passenger in the car, Micah Metzker, a 22 year old Atascadero resident was found to have a warrant for his arrest fro violation of probation and vandalism.
Both were transported to the county jail.

On Sunday, February 4th, 2007 at 1440 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle at Lincoln Ave and Liberty St. During the stop the officer located a pair of nanchakus in the car and a drug smoking pipe. The driver, of the car, Jorge Llamas, a 40 year old Hercules resident and his passenger Dwight Marquez, a 50 year old Richmond resident were arrested for possession of a deadly weapon and the drug paraphernalia. Marquez was found to have a small amount of methamphetamine on his person. The two were booked and transported to the county jail.

On Sunday, February 4th, 2007 at 0940 hours an officer contacted a man sitting on the steps of the Veteran’s Hall , located at 6401 Stockton Ave. Thomas Albino, a 50 year old Richmond resident was found to have a felony warrant for his arrest for drug possession. During the booking process he was found to have a small amount of methamphetamine and several hypodermic needles in his possession. He was transported to the county jail.

On Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 at 1120 hours an officer contacted a man sleeping the doorway of an apartment and found that he had an outstanding burglary warrant for his arrest. During a search of John Carey, a 60 year old Richmond resident, he was found to be in possession of rock cocaine. He was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance and on his warrant. He was transported to the county jail.

On Friday, February 2nd, 2007 at 0755 hours an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle at San Pablo Ave and Conlon Ave. The driver of the vehicle, a Hector Alvarez, a 38 year old Richmond resident was found to be in possession of a counterfeit driver’s license and a counterfeit resident alien card. He had a warrant for his arrest for driving on a suspended driver’s license. He was also found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. He was booked and transported to the county jail on forgery, and drug possession charges.

On Thursday, February 1st, 2007 at 1055 hours officers responded to the 1400 block of Everett St on report of a residential burglary in progress. Officers arrived and surrounded the house. The suspect, Dae Park, a 25 year old Fremont resident with an AKA of David Lee ran through the house and dove out the front window which was closed. He was protected from injury by the drapes. He was taken into custody where he landed. He was found to have property on his person from the residence. A car parked in the driveway of the home had been stolen in Oakland. Stolen property in the car has been linked to an additional residential burglary in El Cerrito in the 8100 block of Terrace Drive and an auto burglary in the 800 block of Shevlin Dr. Additional property from crimes in Berkeley,Albany, and Richmond been located in the car as well.
Park was checked and cleared of any injury at the hospital and booked into the county jail on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, vandalism, and possession of a stolen vehicle
