On Tuesday July 31, 2007 at about 10:25 am El Cerrito Police Officers responded to Bank of America, at 10422 San Pablo Ave, on a report of a forgery in progress. After an investigation Ethel Hicks, a 44 year old female resident of Richmond, was arrested for forgery. Hicks was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility pending the filing of charges by the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.

UPDATED: On Monday July 30, 2007 at about 6:06 pm El Cerrito Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3400 block of Belmont Ave. Upon their arrival Officers found a 24 year old male, Jinzhou Chang of Richmond, had sustained gunshot wounds during an apparent robbery attempt. El Cerrito Detectives have arrested four subjects, Dion Williams, an 18 year old male resident of Richmond, and three 17 year old male residents of Richmond, for this crime. Following their arrests Williams was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and the three 17 year old males were transported to Juvenile Hall. The criminal case has been presented to the District Attorney's Office for filing.

On Saturday July 28, 2007 at about 3:32 am Officer Purdy arrested Chester Armstrong, a 47 year old male resident of Vallejo, after Armstrong was found in possession of stolen property and burglary tools during a suspicious vehicle investigation. Armstrong was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility pending the filing of charges by the District Attorney?s Office.

On Friday July 27, 2007 at about 10:30 pm Officer Brosas arrested Nikesha Lnet Smith, a 26 year old female resident of Richmond, after she falsely identified herself as another person when found to be driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage during a traffic stop. On Friday July 27, 2007 at about 1:45 pm El Cerrito Police Officers responded to a report of suspicious person in the El Cerrito Plaza. After an investigation Jill Lynette Jenkins, a 40 year old resident of Newark, was arrested for theft. Jenkins was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility pending the filing of charges by the District Attorney?s Office.

On Friday July 27, 2007 at about 9:22 am El Cerrito Police Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Kragen Auto, at 10680 San Pablo Ave. Minutes later Officers intercepted the suspect vehicle on eastbound I-80. Komet Marie Rainey-Simms, a 26 year old female resident of Richmond, and Mark Anthony Quilter, a 27 year old male resident of Richmond, were arrested after they were identified as the suspects in the crime, and were found in possession of a loaded and concealed handgun. Rainey-Simms and Quilter were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility pending the filing of charges by the District Attorney?s Office.

On Thursday July 26, 2007 at about 2:54 pm El Cerrito Police Officers responded to a disturbance in the 1900 block of Junction Ave. After an investigation Mitchell Correia, a 44 year old male resident of Richmond, David Avelar, a 43 year old male resident of El Cerrito, and Jessica Rubio, a 32 year old female resident of Richmond, were arrested after they were found in possession of numerous items of stolen property. Correia, Avelar and Rubio were released pending the filing of charges by the District Attorney?s Office.

On Wednesday July 25, 2007 at about 7:28 pm Officer Wahrlich arrested Raul Ibarra, a 28 year old male resident of Berkeley, after Ibarra was found in possession of methamphetamine and a burglary tool during a traffic stop. During the investigation Javier Sanchez Trevino, a 40 year old male resident of San Jose, was arrested after he was found in possession of stolen property. On Thursday July 12, 2007 at about 8:04 pm El Cerrito Police Officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision in the area of San Pablo Ave and Waldo Ave. After an investigation, Wayman Ford, a 54 year old male resident of Hercules, was arrested after it was determined that Ford had committed an auto burglary and fled the scene in his vehicle. While leaving the scene Ford collided into another vehicle, injuring the driver. Ford abandoned his vehicle, stole a bicycle and attempted to escape, but was apprehended by officers. Ford was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility pending the filing of charges by the District Attorney?s Office.

Bao Phan, a 23 year old male resident of Davis, was apprehended after a short pursuit and arrested for DUI and evading an Officer. On Monday July 2, 2007 at about 6:00 pm El Cerrito Police Officers responded to a report of a fight at Big 5 Sporting Goods, at 11060 San Pablo Ave. After an investigation Robert NcNeely, a 21 year old male, Daniel Ortega, a 20 year old male, Dion Williams, an 18 year old male, and Maurice Powe, a 23 year old male, all residents of Richmond, were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. McNeely, Ortega and Williams were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility, and Powe was released, pending the filing of charges by the District Attorney?s Office.
