El Cerrito owns and operates its own curbside recycling programs and a community recycling center

Managed by the Environmental Services Division, El Cerrito's recycling programs provide leadership, planning, and implementation of comprehensive waste management services for the community, emphasizing waste prevention and reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting.

In addition to owning and operating the curbside recycling programs for residents and businesses and the popular El Cerrito Recycling Center, the City also manages the franchise agreement with East Bay Sanitary Company (the City's contracted garbage and green waste collector) is working on plans to re-design and re-construct a new community recycling center to replace the current aged facility, and runs long-standing City events like the annual Earth Day Celebration and the Citywide Garage Sale.

We're also a certified Green Business with the Contra Costa Green Business Program.
