Dispose of Needles the Right Way
As of Sept. 1, state law makes it illegal to throw needles and syringes in the trash. What should you do with these old sharps? El Cerrito residents can take old sharps to the Richmond Household Hazardous Waste Facility for free.

El Cerrito Recycling Program

The City of El Cerrito's Recycling Program provides leadership, planning, and implementation of comprehensive waste management services for the community, emphasizing waste prevention and reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting.

The Recycling Program provides several recycling collection services in the community: weekly residential curbside recycling collection; collection at private schools, public offices, businesses and apartments.

In February 2009, the City launched a new, easier curbside recycling program. Now residents and businesses can put all their recyclables in one container. No more separating!
