Community Orchestra Program

The California Sound Collective, sponsored by the Arts and Culture Commission, invites beginning and advanced amateur musicians to participate in two new orchestras: The Beginning orchestra and the Advanced amateur orchestra.

Starting June 4, 2019, our Beginning Orchestra begins a series of twelve (12) Tuesday night rehearsals led by Andrew Lewis and Kyle Baldwin. Whether you are a beginning level player or have never played an instrument before, this group gives the experience of playing and performing with an ensemble while being coached by professionals. Price is $195 ($15 X 13) for 13 sessions.

Starting July 15, 2019, our Advanced Amateur Orchestra led by David Ramadanoff will have 6 Monday night rehearsals.  If you are an advanced amateur player, this group provides an in depth experience of rehearsing and performing an orchestral masterpiece, enhanced by the leadership of Maestro Ramadanoff (a former Associate Conductor of the San Francisco Symphony) and coaching by members of our outstanding professional ensemble. Price is $105 ($15 X 7) for 7 sessions.

•• Players interested in the Advanced Amateur Orchestra should answer the Playing Level Questionnaire.••

Class/Rehearsal Location: El Cerrito Midtown Activity Center

Both the Beginning Orchestra and the Advanced Amateur Orchestra will then join our professional musicians for a special concert event on August 24, 2019. This event celebrates all levels of music making, while also presenting a high quality concert that can be enjoyed by all members of the community.
