rEC Treks:
Senior Day Trips
Adults ages 60 and older are welcome to travel with us as we explore beautiful and exciting attractions around the area. Leave the planning to us! Each trip is led by a group leader. All trips include periods of walking, standing and sitting unless otherwise indicated. Travel itineraries and details are subject to change. Pre-registration is required.

Senior Support Services
Cafe Costa Senior nutrition Program
The El Cerrito Senior Nutrition Program, Café Costa, offers in-person lunches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane.
- Café Costa is a lunch program for seniors 60 years and older.
- Doors will open at 11:30am for check-in and lunch served at 12:00pm.
- Participants may stay and socialize with friends until 1:30pm.
- Participants must register with the program and make reservations for dates they wish to attend no later than 11pm the day prior.
- There is a suggested contribution of $3 per meal.
- Vegetarian option available.
If you are 60 years or older and live in El Cerrito, you are eligible to receive FREE Easy Ride Senior & Disabled Transportation to and from the lunch program. Enrollment in the Easy Ride Program and advance reservation required. Call (510) 559-7000 or email recreation@ci.el-cerrito.ca.us for more information or if you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming changes to Café Costa Senior Nutrition Program.
Birthday Celebration
Last Wednesday of each month, 12-1pm
Celebrate your birthday at the El Cerrito Community Center during lunch on the last Wednesday of each month. Everyone in attendance will enjoy a sweet treat! To celebrate your birthday, sign up by calling (510) 559-7000, emailing recreation@ci.el-cerrito.ca.us or stopping by the office. Must register for lunch by 12pm one business day in advance.
Respite Program
Tuesdays, 10am-3pm
The Respite program provides a brief respite to caregivers of adults suffering from memory loss diseases such as Alzheimer's and Dementia, while offering program participants supervision and programming designed to help keep them functioning at their highest level possible. The program is held at the El Cerrito Community Center (7007 Moeser Lane) and is run in partnership with West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) Older Adult Education. The Respite program operates September through June and follows the WCCUSD calendar. Transportation to and from the program is available to El Cerrito Residents. Pre-approval is required. Fees will be calculated by the number of days attending the program and the rates are as follows: Resident $30/day and Non-Resident: $38/day. Easy Ride Paratransit Senior & disabled Transportation Service
Easy Ride Paratransit Senior & Disabled Transportation Service is a van ride service for seniors (65 and older) and persons 18 and over with a disability who are El Cerrito residents 94530. El Cerrito residents ages 60 and older attending Cafe Costa Senior Nutrition program are eligible to receive FREE Easy Ride service to get to and from the lunch program only. The cost per ride is $2. The door-to-door shuttle is funded by Measure J Sales Tax. For more information or to register CLICK HERE
Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP)
In-person appointments are available at the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane on the first Monday of each month at 11:00am, 12:00pm and 1:00pm. To schedule an appointment call (925) 655-1393
Senior Peer counseling Program
" As we get older, sometimes a little help means a lot."
If you are 55 or older and facing challenges that are difficult to cope with alone, our Senior Peer Counseling program can help.
Participants connect with fellow seniors who are trained to provide assistance and support with challenges such as depression, fear, loneliness, the loss of a loved one, health changes, or isolation.
Senior Peer Counseling is available in English and Spanish. Services are free and confidential.

Blind & low Vision Support Group
The Lion's Center for the Visually Impaired sponsors this FREE monthly support group at the Community Center on the
first Tuesday of each month from 1-2pm. Drop-ins welcome. Call (925) 664-8212 for more information.
AARP Tax-Aide Income Tax PreparatioN
AARP trained volunteers assist low and moderate income seniors with their state and federal income tax forms. This service is FREE and is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! Donations to the City of El Cerrito Senior Services Division are gratefully accepted.
This program has closed for the 2023 tax season and will return in 2024.
