The City of El Cerrito Tree Committee in cooperation with
Invest From the Ground Up initiated a survey with local businesses in February 2014 to start a dialogue regarding issues relating to trees with the long term goal of enhancing El Cerrito’s business district and overall community. The survey informed the contents of this informational brochure:
Businesses and Trees (PDF brochure)
While trees on public lands, rights of way and private property all contribute to creating an attractive and thriving “urban forest”, this survey focuses on street trees in City parking strips (the area between the sidewalk and street) and provides an opportunity to share your understanding and desires regarding their maintenance and protection.
This effort was made possible through grants from CAL FIRE and the USDA Forest Service and support from Invest From the Ground Up. The City of El Cerrito would also like to thank the El Cerrito Garden Club, the El Cerrito Chamber of Commerce, Well Grounded Coffee and Tea Bar, the Natural Grocery Company, Bay Area Urban Forest Ecosystem Council, Western Chapter International Society of Arboriculture, • US Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Program, California ReLeaf and all the local businesses who participated in the survey for supporting this effort.
